It says you can sample 10 secs worth into it with a mic. It does not say if that mic input can sample from a line input. It does also not say anything about editing that said sample. So I would say, no you cannot chop a song with it.

If you have love for the golden era boom bap, you could propably find a used Ensoniq EPS for around that money.

Yes that would be it... Understand tho that the machine won't chop samples, you do.

It's a pretty old piece of hardware and not hi-tek by any means, it won't even sample in 16bits (CD quality). But it was the first "pro" keyboard sampler that popped into my head in that price range. I think RZA used one to make the first WU album with.

Just keep in mund that buying old hardware will come with it's cons. You need patience and will to learn the machine to get the most out of it. It will be nothing like doing things inside a DAW on a modern computer.

Perhaps it would be beneficial for you to list things that you are looking for in a sampler, before you dive head first into something.

If you have FL, wouldn't a Midi keyboard be the fastest and cheapest option? Or even a pad controller? Just in case you haven't already thought of this

That is true. You don't need to get all RZA and just use an mpd or maschine or something.

I'm almost sure the Korg Microsampler has a chopper in it.

No offence, I don't mean this in any bad way. But I would say the midi keyboard/FL route might be your best bet right now. I sort of a get the feeling you are not very "versed" in sampling or samplers as of yet. To me it sounds like you just want to sample and this is what your heard would do the job

You can get a midi controller and do the same thing inside any modern DAW. Heck you don't even need a controller to do it, you can use the typing keyboard to play the samples with.

You can assign a note range and a root note to each slicer that way they will only play on that part of the keyboard.

    I'm sampling in fl with:
    - 1 lenco usb turntable: €70
    - 1 second hand korg padkontrol €80

I got two main presets set up on the padkontrol. One to hit the Slicer and one to mess with the FPC.
With edison as my best friend; this easy set up goes a long way. Greets to all you sample heads out there.
