Okay, so lately I've been at a sticking point in my productions..and I had a question
When you go to make a beat, do you have an idea in your head? Or do you just play around until something good comes out of it?
I ask this because...I have so many ideas for songs in my head. It's endless, and they're all amazing.....but I am just so extremely limited on my ability to produce these songs from my head--on the computer. I feel like with my current resources it's nearly impossible to make a replicate of what I hear. Everything I have made so far is just me messing around with the current applications and things I have and kind of just going with a simple chord progression I'm able to play.
I hope you understand what I mean... It's just getting frustrating lol, I have so much to learn |

Same here, Saha. I tend to have the snare on 2 and 4 while playing with the kick. When I have the kick feel I like I alter the snare and work on hats. |

Usually I actually do have an idea going into it. Then i start with the drums and afterwards I do all the melodies which end up being somewhat of a variation of the idea that I had began with. |

I usually start of with a sample I dig, no precise idea behind it. I kinda play around with some instruments to get a melody and then the drums plus some perc. |

Usually I start with an idea of something I want to do, maybe an instrument I want to use, a sample or a sound. But its rare that I end up with my first idea, usually I end up with something completely different |

I start with reeeally simple drums then hum a bassline for it. After that, I add more instruments on top depending on what kind of mood I'm going for, then when that's done, I add some variation and complexity to the drums, add effects, mix it, bam |

Normally i will just open fl and start with making some tight sounding synths and basslines. then i usually progress from there with kick and other perc. However i will usually really like one aspect of something i developed in the first production and then open a new flp and start with whatever it is i liked from the other song and go from there. Only when you understand all aspects of sound production with your D.A.W. can you create exactly what you hear in your head. |

I just put the pen on the paper and the ink will flow. If it is some preconceived idea, just improvisation or a mix of both I don't know. It is really not important either to be honest. As soon as you come self concious of your creative process and the reasons for it the barriers come up. |

I just close my eyes and press random keys on my midi controller until it randomly sounds fantastic. True story. Nah but I start all different ways....sometimes a melody, sometimes a chord progression, sometimes drums, sometimes I'll hear something that inspires me....I don't really have a set order of doing things. |

i hop out of bed and turn my swag on... ^(sarcasm)^ yea i try not to force anything. if i am in front of the keys for 10-15 mins and i get nothing i like i just wait till a later time, i just let the moods strike me for the most part |

Sometimes i have a idea in my hand but normally how im feeling inside reflects the beat..bad mood = evil beat..sad would be some a minor piano..but other times i think of what i want to make and i just have fun creating that..and i always do the melody first |

I usuually just, start with finding a good kick, a good snare, some hihats, them it depends on music, for hip hop i add some shakers and stuff, for dubstep some random sounds that i like Sometimes i do the melody first tough xP |
