What are the best headphones to use when producing tracks? I've heard a number of different brands such as Monster (Beats by Dre), Denon, Pioneer, Sennheiser, Sony, V-Moda, etc. I just don't know what to get.

There is no such thing as "The best". However there are better options in every price range. If you can tell us how much you are looking to spend, we would be better equipped to help you out.

But for starters, stay AWAY from the DJ/Consumer headphones if you are looking for a good pair of cans when it comes to creating music. While things like Beats and the V-Modas might be nice to listen to your ipod with, they are not good tools to create the music with. There are various reasons for this, main reasons being that many said headphones "color" the sound and do not gibve you a flat response curve. There are also things to consider about closed and semi closed headphones....

As for brand names I would recommned looking at AKG, SENNHeISER and some SONY models for best bang for the buck when it comes to production of music.

    I have some Sony Mdr - v6's.

Made especially for production. I bought em for around $80 after i read some reviews (definitely read reviews before you buy any type of gear) and after i bought em, i started noticing that, on youtube, when i'd watch freestyles and radio interviews and people in studio's (big names like jcole n jay z n kendrick lamar) they were using these headphones. as well as some small name people too. so there ya go there's one option. my advise would be to do alll of the research you can reading reviews and all that (or course, keeping a reasonable mind while reading them) and choose whatever feels right.
