    sup fam

    So i have this problem.

Its not really a problem but ist kinda annoying if i am practice something off youtube.

So the deal is: if i use asio, i cant get any sound out of other things.

I did uncheck auto close device but it only works on the direct sounds device.

But if i use direct sounds device (just my emu tracker pre) the latency is f'd up.

So i have to use asio4all.

So i dont know a fix maybe you guys know it.

well to my experience ASIO are always the best choice. You must find a compatible driver through the manufacture which offers ASIO capability through your soundcard. For example i have the Motu Traveler, in FL theres a choice to select Moto ASIO audio which runs my motu traveler with ASIO drivers. If you do not see this kind of choice via the name of your sound card then the driver does not support ASIO, WDM is decent but by far not as good for alot of reasons. Point is ASIO4ALL is the best alternitive as oposed to buying a new sound card if all else fails on the driver search. Hope This Helped.

Yea i have my sound card set up the right way and it supports asio, but thats the point.

If i click on my soundcart and then asio i play a full project at 2ms but then i cannot hear sounds from any other sound source on my pc.(like youtube or wmp)

I have the same problem on my laptop, yet on the desktop it doesn't do this. It gets really annoying at times when I'm in the WB Chat, start exporting a project, then my laptop switches to the main sound drivers automatically and I have to close all windows before restarting FL.

I remember reading up on it and there isn't anything we can really do about it.

It kinda sounds like a IRQ conflict problem. Try checking the IRQ settings for your devices.

This just what happens when you use ASIO driver. It locks up the other sound cards on the system.

It shuts off all other sounds by design. The reason you can get such low latency times is exactly because it doesn't have to deal with any other audio from any other source at all. It's a good thing!

I have windows 7 - I simply right click my windows mixer at my clock and then disable my primary sound source and enable my HD source for ASIO at the same time. When Im done in FL Studio, I close it and then enable normal sounds again - 10 seconds and I can hear all my other sounds again. It's not really a problem for me. I tend to want to close off ALL other resource usage when Im in FL studio anyway. No browsing, no email, nothing with any memory hogging characteristics. Leaves everything for FL Studio.
