    Supp

I hooked up a very old mixer to a very old turntable and hooked up my krk's to my mixer.

So now, the sound comes out.

I hear sound out of my krk's but the mixer is connected to the output of my interface.

So how do i record some samples?

    And a other thing,
The records all sound really bad quality like bassles and the typical vinyl sound is like too loud.
Is there something wrong with my turntable?

You might need a new needle? If it's an old TT it could have worn out.

You'll need your mixer hooked up to the input of your Interface to actually record the vinyl also.

    Yea that might be the problem, those damn needles <span class="afEmot" style="width: 20px; height: 20px; cursor: hand;" onclick="amaf_insertHTML('<img src=\'/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/WB_default/emoticons/tongue.gif\' />')" unselectable="on"><img alt="" width="20" height="20" title="<img src='/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/WB_default/emoticons/tongue.gif' align="absmiddle" border="0" />" onmousedown="return false;" src="/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/WB_default/emoticons/tongue.gif" /></span>&nbsp;.</p>

And do you know how to connect them to my inputs.

I think i know what you mean, so for example:

I have my turntable hooked up to 2 channels on my mixer L&R.

Panned to hard left and hard right. I dont know if this is a proper way but i hear sound that way.

I have 2 jack outs going to my krk's so i dont know where to let the sound go back.

On my interface, the mic ins are mic/hi-z/line inputs.

So i can connect something there.

    (assuming you own an amplifer)

Just buy one of these http://www.katstar.com/store/sc_images/products/cable/40645f.jpg

Then plug the cables from the TT into that adapter and plug that adapter into your PC Line in jack. If you want to use your interface use the same method expect use a 6.5mm adapter.

What's the point in having the interface if he's not going to use it? lol.

Yea, you hook your mixer into the mic/1/4 jack's on your interface to get the sound into your comp http://warbeats.com/Community/Forums/aft/3919 ....might help, read Sabbo's explanation of my future solution to this very problem lol, I also re-worded that explanation to make sure I understood it so your sure to understand from following that little 'walk-through'

[edit] this solution might not work for you, it really depends on the mixer, but it's worth checking out either way I think [/edit]

for all its worth youre better off just replacing the turntable with one of those newer usb turntables. it will solve two problems old needle, bypass your mixer and go direct digital at the proper recording levels.

nah dude, ur setting it up wrong. try this:
TT to mixer input. Mixer output to interface input. interface output to monitors. make sure ur TT are grounded and levels set right. you shouldn't be panning hard L and R. And if this dont work, try recording on a different daw. I get lower signal from fl studio. Hope this helps.

First of all, unless you know what you are doing and are prepared to spend some money. Don't go the USB turntable route. Reason being: The Cheaper ones come with terrible needles and bad tonearms. You are likely to get better sonics from a 20 year old TT and Amp then youare from a new cheap usb TT.

Secondly, we need to know the brand and model of your mixer to properly help you out here. I assume the the mixer is connected as it is for you to be able to control the speaker volume manually instead of doing it in the digital realm.

Most turntables need a RIIA amp to get the signal output to proper levels. These amps are built in most amplifiers/stereos and DJ mixers. Or one can purchase a little RIIS amp box to use.

    TT >> RIIA AMP (stereo/mixer/dedicated box) >> interface >> mixer >> speakers

You might need to get a pair of adapter cables to connect it all, depending on your setup.

Lastly, what's up with the panning? you don't need to do any panning. the TT outputs a stereo signal (if it is a stereo TT and not a mono one). If you want to sample in mono use only one of the output channels, left or right depending on which has the best signal on the record being used.

Of yeah, and if the recording is lacking bass, it's propably the needle. Assuming everything else is setup properly.

    Hey fam thanx for responding!
ill give you a quick update:
I bought a pre-amplifier and all of a sudden everything worked properly.
I think it was a cable tho because i replaced it with it.
    So no it goes tt->phono pre->mixer->pre amp->pc
    Thanksss
