    No it's not normal

Does this happen if you try to transfer the data in smaller patches?

I cannot give you adefinitive answer as to what is wrong. What operating system are you using and what type of hardware. Have you checked the mem stick for errors aswell as your harddrive. What storage systems do they use and is it a IRQ issue?

    thougth so

it works with smaller patches yeah. But everytime it happens my external soundcard is connected aswell, which is bus powered btw.

    I use Vista Home premium
    Toshiba satellite Laptop
    processor: AMD turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56 1.80 GHz
    RAM: 2,00 GB
    32-bit
I dont know what else you need.

Im not sure what you mean of storage system. But the memory stick uses Sandisk U3, if that helps. And IRQ? Im not sure what that is :/

    IRQ = Interrupt Request

Sometimes when two devices share the same bus there are conflicts, called IRQ conflicts (doh). This happens when two different hardware devices are trying to use the same IRQ at the same time and it can make your PC freeze. In this case blue screen and to reboot.

Atleast that is what I'm quessing is happening. Specially since you say that it only happens when your USB sound card is connected.

    Solution:
    - Try to use a different USB port for either the sound card or the USB mem stick.
    - Unplug the sound card while using the USB stick
    - Or the advanced method of re assigning IRQ's, bvetta read up on it before you do anything silly

    A word of advice.

    NEVER vacuum your computers!

    Reason:
As the air is been sucked past the plastic nozzle of the vacuum cleaner, it builds static electricity. If you come close to any hardware components with it. You run a very real possibility to electrocuting them to death.

    Solution:
Buy some canned high pressure air and blow your box clean from time to time instead.

^I can personally vouch for the fact that vacuuming inside your computer will break it.

noted! its a laptop so I wasnt acually inside the computer tho, I just vacuumed outside the vents. But yeah its safer and probably more effective to use high pressure air.
