I sample in different ways:

1. Load to edison - cut loop (mostly 8 to 16 beats) - drag loop to step sequencer - mess with sample settings (pitch/time stretch) => I only use this for looping
2. Load to edison - chop - drag to FPC - mess with my padkontrol => I only use use this for drums or (other) layered samples
3. Load to edison - chop loop - drag to Slicer - set it to 16 beats (+set time stretch/pitch) - mess around with padkontrol
4. Load into edison - chop loop - set markpoints (manually in edison) - drag to slicer - mess with padkontrol

I usually create markers (using Sound Forge, but you can do that in Edison too, pressing M you'll create a new marker at the cursor) at every (what I think is) "important instrument note/chord played". This will give me the chops to play with. Then save the sample, load it in Slicer, eventually mess with the stretching settings and just arrange the chops afterwards.
