I've recently been paying much more attention to the mixing side of things, and I've been working hard to improve that aspect of my production.
How do you get your mixes "soundclick ready"? All the big guys up there have loud mixes that bang. I've been mixing following tips I've seen around here and try to keep my master level track topping off around -3db. My mixes sound great when I crank up the volume on my speakers, but when I play them at "normal volume", they lack in comparison to other producers on soundclick.
Are these guys also staying around -2db to -3db on their Master channels? Loudness plays a big part in how your beats are perceived, and I definitely don't want a wimpy sound.
What do you guys do to to your track (if anything) to get it poppin' for soundclick/other sites? Do you throw a Limiter on, etc.? Do you do a special mixdown version JUST for that reason?
Pretty confused and frustrated about it. Bleh.
