I learned 5 mins ago that my hard drive is totally broken and I can't do anything to fix it... I lost a whole lot of songs I created and all the things I have gotten during the past 2 years. I would have to restart all over and I had songs that were gonna get sold exclusively during the next couple of days. I dont know what to do as I'm not a quitter, but all the energy I've put during the last year to learn and create music is now gone and I dont know what to do... I liked to create music, but since I will not make a living out of it I dont know if it's worth getting everything back, cuz yeah... I didnt buy hypersonic 2 or nexus (yea shame on me but thats not the point) and I'm pretty broke atm cuz I spent the money I was gonna get -.- ... Anything like that happened to you in the past, tips, anything just help me plz L to the K, the dead musician |

my hard drives broke twice but i had slot of my projects and some sampled on discs and memory pens (Still need to buy external hard drive), don't look at his as a reason to give up though think of it as a test to see if your still determined and you might be able to get nexus etc back if you contact them and prove you bought it |

Yea, I'd prolly be determined, I'll wait a few days, but I havent bought vst's or soundfonts... got them from internet... so that would take a freakin load of time to get everything back, and my songs and stuff were only on my hard drive cuz, you know, it cant happen to me, I take care of my laptop... |

That's harsh L to the K , I remember when my laptop died I thought I'd lost everything. When I bought a replacement laptop I also bought an external hard drive caddy , pulled the hard drive out of the old computer and put it in the caddy much to my surprise I was still able to access most of the info on there and transfer it over to my new computer. So it was worth spending £15 buying the caddy as it ended up being worth so much more. |

Same thing happened to me 'bout a month ago, everything i've ever did was gone, tracks, projects, school assignments, some of the stuff i REALLY needed. i was mad for a while but eventually i just accepted it. i didnt really care about the beats, a fresh start isnt that bad, but i did have some projects with others that needed to be finished, and ofcourse theres the drumkits, my music library etc. my advice is just to suck it up and continue doing what you do, dont spend too much trying to get what you had back, instead look for new things imma go ahead and quote a wise man and say ''Dont be a sucka, Back up yo ish!'' |

picture it as a new start, take all the things you learned, and apply it in a fresh new way, like a new you or somethin. its whats in your head now that counts, not just a bunch of songs/tracks |

Well thank you very much guys, I'll keep create music (if I can call that music haha), you helped me a lot, I'll see it as a new start and I'll still try my best to get better. After going on warbeats a lot but not writing lately, I realized that music is way more than creation or have your songs in your computer, it's how you feel, and being here made me realized that restarting all over again is as good and I'll still have a reason for being on this great site hehe. I wont have fl nor my new computer before a week or so, but I'm already planning some songs so I'm not quiting anymore. I wanted to truthfully thank you guys, as you made me realized a lot of things I didn't think of myself.., |

Yeah it hurts! I lost only two of my classics and I was crying like a baby. Hopefully you should be able to recover 4rm Sabotage's link he provided above. I bookmarked it for in case of an emergency. |

Unfortunately I wont recover anything... it's prolly physical damage, nobody knows why it would have broken at that precise time, cuz everything was good until I turned it off to get a pizza then it stopped working and I didnt touch it before coming back (is that clear lol ?) so I have to get all my music library, etc. back but I'll make sure to be better from now on! |

This is the software that saved my arse, when my drive broke on me (also physical damage, bad sectors etc) I went thru about 15 of these programs untill I found the one that worked for me. Be warned tho, it will be a slow going, it took me about 24 hours to scan the drive for files and about as much time to recover them. |
