Ive watched a couple of basic videos about mixing and such but nothing in depth on any of the fl effects really. What id like to see personally is some videos on how to mix your drums more in depth and specific, doesnt matter what exactly just as long as the video goes into detail as I dont know much. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated and maybe this thread can be made into a nice database of videos!

Search youtube for a guy named Bob Katz. He's not the most entertaining guy in the world, but you'll learn a lot if you really listen

the best place to get in depth info about fl plugins, i would suggest go to the fl site.

as far as people doing things differently, that's the beauty of it. you don't have to just follow one style. watch different videos and see which one is easier for you. it's great to have options. it also gives you insight on how different types of sounds are achieved.

There's really nothing confusing bout it. People make beats in different ways and thats not confusing to you. Right?
So why should this be different.

    Set volumes of everything
    Pan
compress if needed (very soon, if not now already you'll not need copress anything)
    eq
    reverb
set volumes again (cos reverb will mess it up a lil)

Thats the basic oreder of things

to be honest with you blastbeats, i've been learning stuff online for a while...seen countless videos....I would seriously advise, if possible, for you to find a studio with a seasoned engineer to see if you can work as an apprentice at. the videos will show you how to mix whatever particular drum is in that video, but there are so many different samples to work on. what slavebell said is the way to start. if you know the basics of compression, eq, and other signal processors, then you are well on your way. if you DON'T i would start there.

i'm not sure. i'm nowhere near your area, but i'm sure there are some engineers around you. check at your local music shop. they may know some folks, and just kind of look around and ask around. if there are musicians in your area with any music out or coming out, ask them where they recorded at.
