seeing as the years almost over, what do you guys think the best hiphop albums 2011 were? for me its kind of hard. nothing really stands out much anymore. then again, i mostly listen to mainstream artists.

these are my choices though (in no particular order):

    1. Section .80

    2. Take Care

    3. RED Album

    4. Return of 4eva

i thought carter 4 was pretty terrible. watch the throne was ok. finally famous was also alright. cole world was ok too but i found it really boring to be honest.

    what do you guys think?

I am a big Lupe fan.... but lasers was subpar. I cant even listen to it again. My favorites would have to be Watch the Throne and Take Care since I kept replaying those.

probably doesn't quite fall perfectly under the hip hop label for this thread, but one of my definite favorite albums of 2011 was House of Balloons by The Weeknd. for those of you who have not been introduced to this guy, he's on Drakes album (featured on Crew Love, but also does some vocals on other songs too) and made a decent sized splash for somebody who stillremains unsigned.

also, he just released a new one, titled Echoes of Silence... now that i think about it, it may have technically been released in 2011 also. i think aspiring producers can really enjoy the stuff he's been working on lately. Well, he and his producers. Its really kind of futuristic, spacey, echoey stuff. It goes perfectly with his singing style and the overall songs. I don't want to talk too much about him, but I think most of you guys would really dig this stuff. and if not, your girlfriend will at least. get it for her.

all of them can be d/led directly from his website @ : http://the-weeknd.com
(yes, his name is spelled that way on purpose. he's a recreational drug user.... drop e on the weekend? something like that?) anyway... his style is somewhat hard to get adjusted to at first, but i think he'll grow on you if you can stick out at least 5-6 songs. some good ones from House of Balloons are : High for This, Wicked Games, The Party & After Party, Loft Music and from Echoes of Silence : DD, Montreal, and really like Same Old Song. Thursday (his other mixtape/album) also has a few good tracks, including the title track... but Thursday is weak when compared to HoB and EoS. anyway, hope you all enjoy. happy new ears

Lazers for suree was one of the sickest albums
    Goblins was pretty dope too
Take Care had only half an album good, but the song on it were good

JayZ & Kanye's album was tooo overhyped, Jay Z's blueprints were much better

Shiz, Immortal technique dropped a new album, how the fuuh did I not know? Mostlikey good.

Section 80, Greatest Story Never Told, Return of 4eva, Cole World (even though its the worse than the 3 tapes he put out), Undun, The Dream/Believer

Lazers was kinda weak to me, as was WTT.

I don't follow any up to date releases that much other than listening to internet radiostations.

Z-RO - Meth has a good feeling and regarding the whole production and feeling it will be one of my reference albums. The sound is very warm and the chosen sounds are creative. One can hear that a lot of instruments are original and played live. Groove was a major attribute as well. I'm also impressed with Z-Ro's vocal performance. The only trap beat/track is on "No Reason". A lot of beats are produced by Beanz N Cornbread.
