    Fam,

I want to start organizing some sample battles on the regular. Someone throws in a sample and 2 or more people have to flip it, then others vote on who flipped it best.

So i am putting up this thread to see how many people would be interested in this, let me know if you are down to get creative and competitive with the sampling ^^

You know I would love to, the question is more "can I find the time to?".

I am down, the site needs a jolt sample wise. Will the battles be in the battle thread? So that means 4 inquiries if so, is it going to be first come first serve? We have to talk time limitations and nooks and crannies, but i am down none the less.

Well we'll have to see how many folks are interested in joining, if its just us three then we can just hook it up really simple. but say theres a ton of people that want in i could organize a mini tournament, with little prizes and such. could be alotta fun ^^

as for battle rules, im definitly about keeping the beats short. i dont know about you guys but im not that into having to listen trough 4 and a half minutes of a loop just to see if it switches up anywere before i make my vote. we could limit it to like 2 minutes or less if you ask me, thats easily enough time to show people what your beat is about.

also the grey area is how much you can manipulate your sample and add other sutff. if somebody just uses his appointed sample for a bassline and adds a whole bunch of synths and orchestra then its not exactly a match of who's flip was the best anymore. also we may need rules on outside samples

PS: slliks you own a mpc1000 right?

Should be down for this , like you said will have to set a limit as to how many other samples/sounds you can use from other sources.
Could do it so you have a set sound kit ( such as drumkit, bassline etc ) as the only other sources you can use, that way making a level playing field.
And I'm all for keeping the flips short and sweet just the way I like them.

We actually discussed doing this with every new Sabo's crates installment... I just haven't gotten my lazy ass to do anything of it yet. I propose WB oldschool rules...every sound except the drums and bass must come from the sample (manipulate all you will, just be ready to re-create it if need be)

Battles could be setup here as a regular sample flip thread, then the ring leader sets a timeline and creates a battle in the battle system. This can be open with a deadline or a invite only battle, where people post in the thread when they have flip to enter and then receive a invite.

I can provide with samples, unless someone else feels their crates go deeper

    I thought I said sample + drums & bass

How do you feel about hungarian folk tunes or maybe japanese kids records?

Yo i'm in too bros. Good idea. I agree with "sample + drums & bass" rules. And also i'm cool with keepin the beats short.

[ Revoltod wipes his "razor" out even before Sabo goes deep into those crates ]

Let's do this. with or without "prizes", for this first time. Let's just do it.

If I have time and the sample inspires me, why not. I just hope you'll throw "my type of" samples in.

I have a question, is there a post requirment? I've been on here for a while, just reading your guys threads and learning tips. I've never been a real talkitive person but i would have to say sabotages crates are insanely good.

Nope, this will not be that type of a official warbeats challenge. Just a way to get some regular sample battles going on again.

Awaiting TR to step in and take the reigns on this

I would like to do it as well. i think it#s a bit limited by just drums n bass, cause a big part of the fun is the combination with other samples or melodies, but still, i am in whatever the rules are
