OMG not here too. SO Fking WHAT? It's not like I knew him or like he did something to make me FEEL, teach me something or so on. (See 2Pac, GURU, Teddy Pendergrass, etc.) Yeah, he died. Rest in peace. But seeing that EVERYWHERE is NOT what I'd call "rest in peace". I don't own a mac or iSomething, so he's just somebody that died, you know, FOLLOWED LIFE'S NATURAL CYCLE. It's funny though, how many "grieve" him by posting shit, putting images with him on facebook and shit, but they don't own an iSmth, mac, etc., don't know him, didn't know who he is until he died. Pathetic.

You don't have to have purchased something from Apple to respect what the man has done for the world. He revolutionised, he innovated, he was an entrepreneur. He gave the music industry another chance with iTunes, he opened the world up to social media, he helped bring the first ever fully animated feature film to everyone, he's created hundreds of thousands of careers with the things he's made. I'm not grieving for the man, I'm merely paying my respects to someone who has done a lot for the world, someone who had a lot of drive, was a perfectionist and loved what he did...
I apologise if that offended you... |

^Agreed Lucas,Meg you just miserable. You didn't have to comment this thread if you didn't care.
For those who do,here's a memorable part of his speech he did at Stanford University in 2005:
"No one wants to die, even people who want to go to heaven don't wanna die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it and that is as it should be because death is very likely the single best invention of life.It is Life's change agent,it clears out the old to make way for the new.Rightnow the "NEW" is you.But someday, not too long from now, you'll gradually become the old and be cleared away. But remembering that you're going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose."
He'll be remembered. |

Damn, I see T!6er is back in here, I thought you'd matured? I wasn't an apple fan boy, never had a mac, or an iPod, hated iTunes and still think the iPad is a fad that people can show off with. But, Steve Jobs and Apple had a massive impact on the world of technology and computers, and on music as well. He changed the game. You reckon Steve Jobs had no impact on. You never used a computer mouse? Never seen a Pixar film? Ever been affected by something Disney has done? Not got a smartphone? Damn, if you computer has a GUI then you probably owe something to Jobs and Apple. Even if you still feel he hasn't impacted your life, how would you feel if someone defaced a tribute to 2Pac who you so readily identify with? You grieve for 2pac, but you never knew him, didn't know who he was until after he died, is that pathetic? Damn shame this thread came to this. RIP Steve Jobs |

2nd man and Brofessor is right.
Steve Jobs did more than you know, it's like when Einstein died, the world lost an innovator, a genius. We as a specie need those one of a kind people who dare to thrive forward and help show us things the rest of us don't dare to try or accomplish.
So let the small people sit there and bi.tch all they want cuz at the end of the day, no one's gonna remember them.
P.S. Steve Jobs also invented the keyboard/type face that you're using to talk trash about him on. Genius!
RIP STEVE |

I guess wikipedia is wrong(sarcasm) then:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Jobs
"InventionsAs of October 9, 2011, Jobs is listed as either primary inventor or co-inventor in 342 United States patents or patent applications related to a range of technologies from actual computer and portable devices to user interfaces (including touch-based), speakers, keyboards, power adapters, staircases, clasps, sleeves, lanyards and packages." |

1. Who said he invented computers? In fact, who said he invented anything, he wasn't really an inventor, he was an entrepreneur, he brought the ideas to market. 2. Your using wiki as your main source of information, really? 3. And if you were using wiki, you weren't using it well. From the article "Mouse (computing)" - "However, the mouse remained relatively obscure until the appearance of the Apple Macintosh". Again, we're not claiming he invented it, but the use of it by the Mac meant it become a popular and widely used technology. That we use a mouse instead of an alternative input system has something to owe to Steve Jobs. In the same way he didn't invent mp3 players or touch screen, but apple products really pioneered them and redefined markets with them. 4. I suggest if you wanna debate the worthiness of Jobs contribution to the field of technology you start a new thread and keep it outta here. |

Nah, that wasn't directed at you skyha, I'm with you. Was saying that looking at the wiki article for keyboards and not seeing Steve Jobs name does not imply he didn't have a part to play. And Pompey right, so
And he wasn't influential in the world of technology? |

No, I'm not using wikipedia as my first and only source of information. Before I say something "is so", I check more places before making myself a (somewhat) clear opinion. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to diss him, to say he didn't do anything good (he did good things and he got paid for it), but I think some people are like "worshiping" this man they don't know anything about. Maybe he was a child molester (for example). But that doesn't matter now, right? Only good thoughts for the passed away.
And it's like that. |

I think we all have different opinions on the world and we can agree to disagree because no one person's opinion is supreme over the others. But megiddo I think you might take this the wrong way because no one's worshipping him for being a god or anything as you put it, it's just simply paying a little respect for someone who spent his whole life trying to improve our lives with technology. And for africa, thats really not fair because our government donate billions of our tax money over the year to them and yet their government and military powers can't put down their differences and help their own people, really nothing else we can do. But that's a whole other diff topic. So let's give credits where credits due and him being a good person or not has nothing to do with this cuz believe me, no one's a saint. |

R.I.P.
i dont really like to get in discussion like this, i can see where are people coming from...but to be honest that comparation with african is ridicilous, i mean....if it wasnt for people like him with a lot of money who donate, imagine where would poor parts of the world then be ?
i pay him a respect like i would to any other human being |

We should not start it with Africa. "it's just simply paying a little respect for someone who spent his whole life trying to improve our lives with technology." Yes... and getting money. FAT Money. It's not like a mac or iSomething costs what it's worth And I don't think the poisoned workers would agree with "life improving".

i believe the way of the world is just what it is.... i feel like no one's life is worth more than another's. that's just my opinion. We don't know him personally, but we may personally have some apple product...or a product that was made b/c of it's competition with apple. unfortunately, we can say "r.i.p. to the millions of kids in africa who die all the time" and it just be a "general" statement to the world b/c it is such a general statement. But when you mention Steve Jobs...who pretty much everyone knows about, it's not so general anymore. So that's why people can easily make public statements like "R.I.P. Steve Jobs" and not make the other all the time. Not saying it's right, nor am I saying that his life is more important than any other person's...but maybe an explanation. in other words, i agree with both sides I hate that any of us have to die...and it's a tragedy that he died. so R.I.P. to him and thank you for the technology that makes our lives more "convenient". |
