Well I would say that Nas is the goat. The runner up would be Lupe Fiasco.

AZ's first verse on Nas' "Life's A Bitch" is the hardest verse I've ever heard. But I think it all depends on what style "WOWs" you the most. If you like storytellin-Ghostface Killah, if you like thug shit-Pac or Biggie, spiritual-Common Market, political-Immortal Technique, real talk-Nas & AZ, egotistical-Kanye West, party/dance-pretty much anything on the radio, gay shit-Soulja Boy...lol Na these are a few off the top of my head, but if I had to pick one I'm pickin AZ.

im not a big jay-z fan, but hes one of the better lyrical rappers out and has been. i mean that in the sense that he doesn't waste space repeating himself or saying things in an unoriginal way. even if he's talking about being rich (which is about 75% of his content), he'll try to go about it in a different way. drake is another rapper that also tries to say things differently in every word.

these are examples from the mainstream that everybody knows about.

li'l wayne (though i do like him) really says some stupid stuff a LOT. he has some dope rhymes that are unique, and his overall style is probably the most unique thing about it, but every 5th or 6th line from him is really embarassing, even coming from somebody who does like him. if i hear him talk about being a martian cause hes so high again i swear to god...
