why have feed back if we cant speak how we truly feel about the track that we rate. if we speak truth and its not welcomed by the person who posted the track then maybe they should'nt be posting. i dont always get positive feed back on my tracks but i except it as honest criticism. i dont let it hurt my feelings, im a grown man. i give honest, i expect honest. for my karma to become a -8 lets me know that theres a lot of sensative producers out there. remember "different strokes different folks" not everyone likes the same thing. so if your track is liked or disliked, take it for what it is and keep ya head up and keep maken good music.

Your karma (as of this reply) is 1.8 ... Your badge will round down and show it as 1. I'm not sure where you got -8. It's possible it was at 0.8 at some point, maybe you were confused by that?

i made a new user account. im sure thats why its 1.8.  on my other user it went to a -8 because i gave my honest opinion. good criticism to the good tracks and advice as well as negative criticism to negative tracks. to my opinion mind you, but it just that when people dont get the response that they wanna hear about the track they up loaded then thats where the thumbs down come in and the low karma.

You made a new account just because your karma was negative? hahahhahah
Anyway...you can give your (most brutal) honest opinion on a track, but if you tell the beat uploader how to improve that beat you should not get negative karma points. If you get them pm nfx about it, let him judge if you gave a good feedback and he can fix the points, maybe even explain the beat uploader that he did a mistake or somethin No need to create a new user because of a number. Just my 2 cents on that.

I'm sorry meleon but I disagree totally...on this site once youv'e established a tarnished reputation for poor scoring without positive feedback to support why such scores were giving you need to start over and try to rebuild a repore...I salute stabb in his efforts to start over and start fresh...there are kids on this venue that would never forget or forgive some of the ratings that stab hands out...he's brutally honest and even though he's murdered some of my songs that were at 80% voted in by 8 to 9 previous members who in detail spoke of great sound quality, mix efficiency (if thats even a word) and compotent composing..stabb slides in with no regard and blast's off with 3's and 4's even though he's giving you the best of compliments...I know personally he means no harm but even I thought about hitting the karma button on his reviews several times but didn't because he's a friend on my page...I even personally said that maybe he should try to find a brighter side to people's tracks and I think his latest review of a track was on point and fair even though I'm sure he probably didn't..at least him (stabb)moving in this direction he'll be able to keep uploading beats, which to me is a hell of a lot better than the alternative...he's here to better himself and if these producers here can't handle that, give um' that extra point to shut there pie holes and stop um' from hitting that karma button...hey I'm not laughing and I'm proud that the brother took out time to write a topic about it so he can get it off his chest and get back to music where he belongs...(good shyt bacc stabb)R.E.X.

once youv'e established a tarnished reputation for poor scoring without positive feedback to support why such scores were giving you need to start over and try to rebuild a repore....

That actually sounds like not so good feedback was given...a track can be shitty and you can (and should) say it's shitty but you should also add some tips on how it can be improved(this should be mandatory), maybe explain why you gave a low score and all that. If you did all that but you still get the thumbs down it's when you (bacc in this case) should complain about negative karma...Say..I upload my shitty track, someone comes in , rates it all ones and says: "that's the shittiest track I've heard so far, nothing fits, instruments are really low quality, mixing wasn't done at all, I can't hear no kicks", well...I (and mostly everyone else) would definately use the thumbs down...even if all that was said about the track were true. To me the proper answer would be something like " That track is VERY incomplete, you need to work on the melody a little more, there is a video tutorial in theese forums, the chord progression you have doesn't fit that melody you have, try to keep all your track in the same scale, the baseline needs some mixin, you're covering too many frequencies with it, make sure you tune your kicks properly (again...there is a video tutorial in this forum)" and so on (you got the point by now). That's when the thumbs down button should not be used (at least in my opinion ).

Anyway...I wish everyone would give their honest opinion without beeing affraid about karma points and all that. When I'll upload a track I'll be looking for bacc for such opinion and ask for brutal examination and honesty

    I feel you,
Some people will give a rating : THIZ IZ DA SHIIIIIIIT!!! 10 - 10 - 10 etc. a thumbs up.
And when someone doesnt like it and gives honest feedback its a thumb down or nothing lol.
    Wierd,
All i can say about it is this: Its not a game, its people that want feedback on their production.

In this context and purely in this context...

Honesty = Unskilled awkward attempt by a Newbie to communicate and network effectively.

I can tell someone their beat sucks donkey balls without saying it... it is a skill that can be learned. It is a skill that must be learned if you ever wish to be successful at music as it is 90% "getting along with people" at a day to day level and an absolute obsession with empathy to create something that will last, endure and touch as many people as possible.

To be blunt and to be honest is two different things and not knowing the difference is a sign of inexperience at best and boorish, egotistical, rude, brutish, anti-social behavior at worst.

Beat feedback is a chance for you to learn to relate to one human being, if you cannot express to one human being that you understand what it is like to wish to get better and that you wish to help without offending them you have no hope of creating music that speaks to anyone but yourself.

But hey, that's just my honest opinion.

I will give A.G.C. a 10 for detailing the mannerisms of constructive criticism, being a man, and mostly human.

You don't have to be Dre. Just be able to communicate what failures you hear, but do it in a way that isn't insulting.

so i bookmarked this sight like a month ago, and had no idea what the real deal was till signing up and doing a little reading. i had been expecting a cut throat competative battlezone riddled with trash talk and insults...instead i find a community of musicians growing together through a system of karma based feedback...me thinks im gonna like it round here. looking forward to being a member of this site for sure. ive only been producing for like a month, and am in desperate need of feedback on my efforts. looking forward to the inspiration and knowledge to be gained by listening to others tracks and giving feedback as well.

No need to whisper, and welcome to the site I hope your experience is "Divine" , Now don't get frustrated when you happen upon a person who feeds with no intention on helping others, just themselves and try and remember and recognize those that help for real it will make ignoring the idiots that much easier. Read a few of the forum topics and you can just about realize who is in it to win it and who is not. Have Funnn!!!! most of all

808 you have to work on giving constructive criticism not just something that will get your track uploaded, what happened was someone "thumbed down" the feedback you gave and thus your "karma" is affected. go to the home page and learn how to give feedback and then and only then will you see results that will help you in your journey.
