U can get an external hard drive like mine(320gb)for like 70 bucks at walmart. My old laptop was like 20gb and had nowhere near the space I needed for my stuff. It's one of the best investments I've made and the upside is that if your cpu crashes u don't lose much. That's what happened to my last cpu during a storm and u can always use it on other computers too

U can get an external hard drive

You can definitely go that route, just make sure to take care of it. It needs to be like your BABY, I'm talking about going through that annoying "safely disconnect this device" bs and everything. I use an external simply to back up everything.

I've just heard horror stories about how unstable they can be. It's still a viable option.

I've had a very good experience with the Seagate/Maxtor line of drives.Comes with a 5 year warranty and those things can handle some abuse.I've dropped em and banged em around a bit and sometimes I do forget to "safely disconnect" lol I haven't had one issue and I still have my first one from like 4 years ago....looks like hell but still boots like new.I'd recommend them anytime but don't know about any of the other brands.

Easy.Laptops are more portable and more convenient and Desktops are like work-horses.Like if you a dj or producer what have you,you do your work on your desktop and transfer your work to laptop when you have a concert or something like that.Personally,I prefer Desktops<>

I would think it would be easier and smarter to use a well equipped laptop with enough connection ports.. because its easier to travel with.

Desktops are more user friendly. It's much easier to do task and if portability isn't an issue than desktop will be good enough.

With a desktop its useful to have a large monitor. For my producing I have 2 24" monitors and this gives me more space to view the software.

unless mobility is a must a desktop is always the better investment. more for your money. the ability to upgrade.

Yes i agree , if you have a really cluttered studio area and you need a computer you might want to look into getting a Laptop as a space saver !

Just make sure its powerful enough to handle whatever DAW your using !

However , if you do have enough space i would suggest a Desktop!
