I am going to say that its not necessary. Since a name isn't intellectual property its not needed, Copyrights are for things of an artistic nature.

You can trademark you name but I still think you wouldn't really need to.

here is an article I kind of think explains it well, http://www.texasnationalpress.com/expose/copyrightname.shtml

Although it is possible, it would be no different than registering a business name that you produce under.

I am kind of doing the same thing...

I am in the middle of setting up my music label and I figured I would have to copyright the music label and our names...

Is that true??  If so, does that mean I have to pay for all the names of the artists in the label, the label name and our logo???  Would I have to pay all this separate or could I pay it all under one fee??

    Thanks for any help.

You can not copyright a name, only trademark it. However, you can get a DBA for that name. That makes it a little easier from a legal standpoint if you ever have an actual dispute about the name. Be sure to register with ASCAP/BMI too.
